Is it "normal" to have acne in teen age or is it a disease?

Most of the people think of acne as an integral part of teen age. They think that it is normal to have acne as one steps into his teen without realising that this devastating disease can leave unsightly permanent scars if not treated early on.The myth of taking acne as a “normal” part of an adolescent’s skin cause millions of teens to end up with scarring of an otherwise charming face. Remember, acne is a disease caused by disorder of oil glands of skin. These oil producing glands are called as “sebaceous glands” and normally work to moisturise skin on a regular basis. In case of acne, the production of the body oil known as ”sebum” (pronounced as “see-bum”) starts to clog the pores of the skin causing acne. there may be “thick” sebum or the quantity of sebum could be abnormally high causing obstruction of the normal flow of skin oil resulting in acne or pimples.
